April 9     Zach’s Birthday!     Kakadu – Materanka

This morning I woke up very excited for the fun I would have today. I saw a Z shaped light surrounded by presents and some beautiful bunting that Mummy had made me hanging above my bed.

I dozed for a while until Clarissa jumped on me. Then we woke Mummy and Daddy and I opened my presents. I got some money, lollies, a cool backpack pencil case, a lego Batman set and a pocket knife. I had already been using my present from Mummy and Daddy, my new moutain bike helmet.

I built my lego and was “blown” away by its appearance. The set is called Joker Escape. I quickly packed up my bed so I could have breakfast and test out my knife. I tried some whittling. It was fun.

After the tent was packed down we jumped in the pool to cool down. I video called Oma and Opa and Nan and showed them my pressies.

Then we started our drive through Kakadu.  The first stop was a drive past some jaggered cliffs and rock piles. The colours were really cool and layered.

Our next stop was my favourite for the day. We walked along a path through the bush and saw Aboriginal art and caves. There were multiple sites to visit and it was interesting to see the ancient art.

We drove on for a while to a boat ramp where we sat in the car to see if we would glimpse a croc.  We didn’t see anything.

Clarissa and I watched 3 movies while Daddy drove for what seemed like ages. Finally we arrived in Mataranka for the night.

I chose grilled red sausages in buns for tea with Pasito to drink. For sweets we had apple danish, glitter jelly and ice cream. It was delicious!

I had a marvellous day celebrating my 11th birthday.
